Our History
Background
Jacobs Reels has its origins in the company Roti Ramen, now known as Rotix BV. This is a general carpentry business specializing in windows, doors, roofs, and stairs, founded by Roger Jacobs in 1986.
In the summer of 1990, the first contacts were established between Roti Ramen and Nexans, focused on the manual repair of wooden reels. Soon, Roger developed a deep expertise in both product knowledge and market dynamics.
Shortly thereafter, Roti Ramen began not only repairing reels but also producing them. This evolution marked an important breakthrough and led to a rapid entry into the cable industry. The production of reels grew into an independent activity within the company.
Establishment
In 1991, the production of reels was placed in a separate company, Jacobs Roger BVBA. Not only did the legal structure change, but the production processes were also thoroughly revised. The technology and methods were completely adapted for the mass production of reels, which led to an increase in capacity.
In addition, revenue grew significantly, partly due to the demand driven by our highly reliable service. This reputation is still valued today by our multinational clients..
Jacobs Reels
Since 2009, Joachim Jacobs has been part of the management team. In that same year, the name was changed to Jacobs Reels, which emphasizes both the family character and the product. The choice of the English name reflects the focus on the international market.
Growth
After a company fire in October 2015, Jacobs Reels moved to a larger, more modern facility that better aligns with the company's ambitions. Thanks to the expansion of the machinery and intensive automation, production capacity was significantly increased. This expansion enabled the company to quickly respond to the growing demand. At the same time, further professionalization, both technologically and administratively, supported continued growth.
